Methodology

We collected policy data in 33 high-income countries over a time span of 4 decades (1980-2020) in five fields of regulation. Our data collection was through country experts, who completed questionnaires covering the five fields of regulation: sex education, contraception, abortion, medically assisted reproduction, and pregnancy care. Before data collection began, questionnaires were pretested with field experts, who gave feedback on the items included on reproduction policies in their respective fields of expertise.
